I have the honour to acknowledge your letter

of June 23rd. I have no grounds for changing the view I express-

-ed to the Secretary of State that the letter addressed by Your

Honour to the Press contravened the Colonial Regulation quoted,

but so far as the correspondence between yourself and the

Chamber of Commerce is concerned I have no desire to re-open a

matter which Your Honour says is dead, or to afford any cause

for a prolongation of the correspondence. If Your Honour con-

-siders that the draft telegran annexed will effect the purpose

desired I am willing to send it.
